Cesar Chavez Academy Denver is a tuition-free, charter public school that develops college-preparatory, academic and leadership skills upon all students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Located in Northwest Denver, the school takes pride in educating students across the metro area.

Uniform Policy

All uniforms can be purchased at All Schools Apparel at 7391 W 38th Ave  (near the northeast corner of W 38th Ave and Wadsworth Blvd).

  • Clothing must be in good condition, neat, clean and pressed.  Clothing may not be oversized and must fit properly.  Items that are torn or cut in any way are prohibited.
  • Students must wear a navy sweater, sweater vest, or sweatshirt with CCA Denver embroidered monogram during cold weather or if they are cold in the classrooms.  Uniform shirts must be worn underneath school monogrammed outerwear.
  • Shirts and pants/shorts/skirts/skorts/jumpers must be loose fitting; jeggings, stretch pants, skinny jeans or skin-tight uniforms are not allowed.  Boys and girls pants must have belt loops and may not have elastic waistbands or ankle cuffs.
  • Plain black or brown belts must be worn at all times with pants and shorts.  Canvas buckled belts and decorative buckles are not allowed.  Shirts must be tucked in at all times.
  • All undershirts (long sleeve or short sleeve), socks, tights, leggings, and hair accessories (i.e. headband, scrunchie, rubber bands, bow, or barrette) must be school uniform colors only. However, bandanas are never to be worn.

  • Students are expected to arrive on campus in uniform and remain that way while on campus.  Students may return to campus in the evenings for special events such as athletic events or fine arts performances out of uniform unless specified otherwise, but following the Free Dress uniform standards.  Violation of the dress code will result in a disciplinary action by the administration.
  • The Director is the final authority in making these judgment calls.
  • For boys and girls, extreme hairstyles or unnatural colors are not allowed.  This includes fads or cuts that draw undue attention.  Students who arrive on campus in violation of this policy will be held out of class until the problem is remedied.
  • Make-up is to be used with discretion and taste.  It is not to be used to draw undue attention.  No body glitter is allowed.  No make-up is permitted for elementary students.  However, Chap Stick is permitted unless it becomes a distraction.
  • Jewelry must be worn in good taste.  Oversized earrings or other excessive jewelry is not permitted.  Necklaces should be worn inside the shirt.  Visible body piercings (i.e.  tongue, eyebrow and nose etc.) are NOT ALLOWED with the exception of the ears.
  • Gang paraphernalia and bandanas are not allowed.
  • Excessive perfume or cologne is not allowed.
  • Temporary or permanent markings on a student’s skin are not allowed.
  • Students must have their shirts tucked in.

Every Wednesday is Dress For Success, though students may wear the Dress For Success uniform on any school day.

  • K – 5 Girls:  Plaid jumper, Peter Pan blouse, navy cross tie and closed toed, solid colored black, brown or white shoes. Students must wear a black or brown belt with pants.  Students must wear a navy sweater or sweater vest or sweatshirt with CCA Denver embroidered monogram during cold weather, or if they are cold in the classrooms.
  • 6 – 8 Girls:  Khaki slacks / khaki skirt or skort; white oxford blouse; chevron gold tie; and closed toed, solid colored black, brown or white shoes. Students must wear a black or brown belt with pants.  Students must wear a navy sweater or sweater vest or sweatshirt with CCA Denver embroidered monogram during cold weather, or if they are cold in the classrooms.
  • K – 5 Boys:  Navy slacks, blue oxford shirt, navy tie with white stripe, and closed toed solid colored black, brown or white shoes. Students must wear a black or brown belt.  Students must wear a navy sweater or sweater vest or sweatshirt with CCA Denver embroidered monogram during cold weather, or if they are cold in the classrooms.
  • 6 – 8 Boys:  Khaki slacks (no shorts), white oxford shirt, navy tie with gold and white stripe and closed toed solid colored black, brown or white shoes. Students must wear a black or brown belt.  Students must wear a navy sweater or sweater vest or sweatshirt with CCA Denver embroidered monogram during cold weather, or if they are cold in the classrooms.

The Casual Uniform is worn Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday; it may also be required on school field trips.

  • K – 5 Girls: Long or short sleeve Cesar Chavez Academy light blue polo shirts; Navy jumper, skorts, pants, capris, or shorts; black or brown belt; and closed toed solid colored black, brown or white shoes. Students may only wear solid colored white, blue or black tights/leggings or socks under school uniform.  Students must wear a navy sweater or sweater vest or sweatshirt with CCA Denver embroidered monogram during cold weather, or if they are cold in the classrooms.
  • 6 – 8 Girls:  Khaki slacks, capris, shorts, skirt, or skort; white or navy short and long sleeve Cesar Chavez Academy polo shirt; black or brown belt; and closed toed solid colored black, brown or white shoes.  Students may only wear solid colored white, blue or black tights/leggings or socks under school uniform.  Students must wear a navy sweater or sweater vest or sweatshirt with CCA Denver embroidered monogram during cold weather, or if they are cold in the classrooms.  Girl’s pants must have belt loops and may not have elastic waistbands or ankle cuffs.
  • K – 5 Boys: Light blue Cesar Chavez Academy long and short sleeve polo shirt; Navy slacks or shorts; black or brown belt; and closed toed solid colored black, brown or white shoes. Students may only wear solid colored white, blue or black socks.  Students must wear a navy sweater or sweater vest or sweatshirt with CCA Denver embroidered monogram during cold weather, or if they are cold in the classrooms.
  • 6 – 8 Boys:  White or navy Cesar Chavez Academy Denver long and short sleeved polo shirts; Khaki slacks or shorts; black or brown belt; and closed toed solid colored black, brown or white shoes. Students may only wear solid colored white, blue or black socks.  Students must wear a navy sweater or sweater vest or sweatshirt with CCA Denver embroidered monogram during cold weather, or if they are cold in the classrooms.  Boy’s pants must have belt loops and may not have elastic waistbands or ankle cuffs.

Students are given the privilege of being in Free Dress as a reward at different times throughout the year. Free Dress clothes must adhere to the following uniform standards:

  • Shoes must be worn, and must be closed-toed with a hard sole (e.g. no flip-flops, no bed slippers)
  • Shorts/skirts/skorts must be an appropriate length for school. The length must extend AT LEAST below the student’s longest finger when the student’s arm is relaxed at his/her side. Depending on a student’s build, the length may need to extend past the longest finger to be deemed appropriate. If students and/or parents are uncertain as to whether the length of the clothing item is appropriate, they may bring the item in (along with a backup clothing item) so that an administrator can make a determination.
  • Shirts must completely cover shoulders and may not have low necklines (e.g. revealing cleavage or chest)
  • Spandex pants, jeggings, skin tight jeans, stretch pants, leggings/tights may only be worn under skirts/skorts or with a shirt that reaches student fingertips when arms are placed by their sides.
  • Accessories such as hats, sunglasses, and oversized jewelry are prohibited
  • No sheer or revealing clothing may ever be worn on Free Dress days
  • Clothing may not have inappropriate images or words
  • Gang paraphernalia and bandanas are not allowed
  • All general school rules for personal appearance apply to Free Dress standards
